Maze games are a fantastic way to build your dog’s confidence and problem-solving skills. Navigating a simple maze and finding their way through obstacles teaches dogs to overcome challenges, think independently, and engage their natural curiosity.
These activities encourage persistence, patience, and creative thinking — a genuinely fun way to mentally stimulate your dog while reinforcing real problem-solving.

How to Play
- Set up the maze: use chairs, gates, or cones to create a simple path in a small area, starting with just one barrier and leaving plenty of room to maneuver.
- Place a treat, or scatter treats, along different points of the path to encourage exploration.
- Guide your dog through the maze the first few times, using treats and praise, and cheer them on as they figure out the way.
- Once your dog gets the hang of it, increase the challenge by adding turns, adjusting the barriers, or using a scent trail to guide them.
- Celebrate success at the end with praise, extra treats, or a quick play session.
New to the game: Use just one barrier and scatter treats generously along the path.
Ready for more: Add turns, tighten the barriers, or use a scent trail instead of visible treats to guide them.
Dogs who get frustrated easily: Go back to an easier version and rebuild confidence before increasing difficulty again.
Independent play: Once your dog is a confident maze-solver, let them work through it solo while you supervise from a distance.
