With just a few treats and an empty bottle, you can turn everyday recycling into a real problem-solving challenge. This activity taps into your dog’s natural foraging instincts and keeps them engaged as they nudge, paw, and roll to release the treats hidden inside.
The unpredictability of the rolling bottle is part of what makes it work — your dog never quite knows which direction it’ll go or when the next treat will fall, which keeps them thinking and engaged rather than just repeating one motion.
🐾 A great one for dogs who like a little movement mixed into their foraging — the bottle rolls, they follow.
New to the game: Leave the cap off and use small treats so the first few rounds are quick, easy wins.
Ready for more: Cut a smaller hole in the bottle, or use larger treats that take more work to release.
Dogs who chew or bite down hard: Supervise closely and end the game at the first sign your dog is trying to puncture or chew through the plastic rather than roll it.
High-energy dogs: Toss the bottle to get it rolling and add a bit of chase into the setup before your dog settles in to work it.
🐾 Pair this with Mouse Trap Game or 3-Container Game for more impulse-control-meets-foraging fun.
